Ultra Male takes the DNA of Le Male and cranks up the sweetness dramatically. The mint and pear open crisp and juicy, but it quickly melts into a rich, almost gourmand lavender-vanilla heart. The heliotrope adds a powdery, almost skin-like softness that keeps it from being one-dimensional. What makes it unique is that tension between the cool mint opening and the warm, almost dessert-like base — it’s masculine-coded but unapologetically sweet, which was a bold move at its 2015 launch. A crowd-pleaser with serious projection.
